What is Green Juice?
Green Juice is created from young barley that has recently sprouted. Rich in nature, this easy-to-drink extract powder can be mixed into a healthy and overwhelmingly tasty beverage. The barely grown for our Green Juice originates in Hokkaido.
Why does Hokkaido-grown barley matter?
Hokkaido is a region known for its fertile soil and healthy lifestyle. When speaking of Hokkaido, anyone from Japan will tell you that it is an area blessed with rich nature, vast land, clean air, and is famous for its natural well water. In accordance with the philosophy of the area, the factory promotes climate-friendly practices. The factory uses no pesticides. One problem with many juices made from various vegetables is the taste. Young barely from Hokkaido is extraordinarily refreshing and healthy. As one could imagine, the flavor is unique.
Why is the flavor unique?
-The factory spends a great deal of resources to hone in on the perfect flavor. Their team of scientists uses the universally acclaimed taste recognition device TS5000Z to profile the 5 flavors, commonly referred to in Japanese cuisine (salty, sweet, umami, bitter, and acidity). -The insoluble dietary fiber has been removed from the product during the squeezing process. This creates a much smoother taste. It also removes most of the bittering factors. Beyond flavor, this also increases the absorbency of the juice itself. Fiber is later added in for health benefits.
What is the health benefit?
-Young barley is highly likely to increase Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) activity in the body (please inquire for studies!).
SOD is an enzyme that alternately catalyzes the dismutation of the superoxide radical into ordinary molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. Superoxide is produced as a by-product of oxygen metabolism and, if not regulated, causes many types of cell damage; mostly associated with lung diseases.
In short, SOD helps with oxygen absorption and life span.
